3 Must-Read Entrepreneurship Books

In The E-Myth Revisited, Michael Gerber explains that entrepreneurs are real people that need support, structure, and teams.  Often the entrepreneur forgets this.  As an entrepreneur, I have built a library of informative and motivational books that help me build focus goals and challenge me to think differently.  Let’s explore three books from my professional bookshelf.

E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber- It is no surprise that Mr. Gerber’s The E-Myth Revisited is on my shelf.  In this book, Mr. Gerber explains how he has helped himself and other business owner organize and evaluate their lives, businesses, and processes.  He uses stories to illustrate points and, although he is very direct, his advice is empathetic.  He has revised his E-Myth book a few times. E-Myth Mastery, E-Myth Manager, and E-Myth Enterprise are a few spin-offs of this popular book.

Work Less, Make More: Stop Working So Hard and Create the Life You Really Want! by Jennifer White  - The name of Ms. White’s book is a bit misleading.  She is a success coach.  In this book, she challenges readers to redefine their life and work.  She champions practical methods for self-honesty, self-duplication, and the creation of passive income.  She also uses stories to help make her points tangible.  The most valuable part of this book are the exploratory exercises.  They help you develop goals, stay focused, and execute.

The Start-Up of You – In this book, Reid Hoffman and Ben Casnocha share their experiences as Silicon Valley investors, employees, and business owners.  They share what they learned about owning their work, risk, and professional connections, through engaging stories and heartfelt messages.  The authors show readers how to take an entrepreneurial approach to their career.  I suggest this book for business owners because we often start businesses without really owning our work.  Instead we “purchase a job,” as Mr. Gerber explains in The E-Myth Revisited.  Start-Up of You is a great book about taking ownership of yourself and your work.

Each book described was written with the business owner in mind.  They provide tools, tips, and techniques incorporating the human side of the operation, without losing sight of business goal.  I hope these resources provide you with information and resources to help you make your organization prosperous.
